Antonietta Del Vecchio
Founder & Head Designer
The daughter of Italian working-class immigrants, Antonietta grew up in a modest home in Montreal.
As early as age 7, fashion became her passion. She was designing & making her own clothes with the help of her mother, a seamstress by trade.
At 17, Antonietta starts working summers at a large vertical company where she begins to learn about all the facets of the industry.
After graduating from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce in international business & a minor in entrepreneurship & small business, she goes back to school and takes courses in fashion design; her first love!
Upon graduation and with a Dec in Fashion Design in hand, she begins her career with one of the largest Canadian Apparel manufacturers of the time. There she is exposed to the international side of business along with private programs and learns how to work with large chain and department stores.
After 6 years, she is poached by a growing discount chain store, and assumes the position of merchandise manager. She works in N.Y. and Montreal for the next 6 years and this is where she learns about retailing to the masses, the importance of offering great value, and where she hones her great negotiating skills.
In 1999 Antonietta was hired by an established mid-size Canadian apparel manufacturer/importer. There she worked for 16 years as V.P. Merchandising.Working alongside the president, she is instrumental in the rapid growth of the company.
This is also where she learns about doing business with independent stores & how to serve their needs, with the ultimate goal of satisfying their customers. The year is 2014, Antonietta resigns her post, and is now faced with making one of her most important life decisions.
Antonietta in her late 40’s must decide what is next! With the reassurances of her family, and of several of her trusted contacts, she decides to take the plunge and open her own business.
By October, Antonietta with the help of her husband Manu, opened Urbanology and never looked back. Today, Antonietta keeps following her passion and searches for the best ways to serve her customers and ultimately consumers by offering the best products possible.
